Project Inform Executive Director
Ellen LaPointe to Leave Position

March 1, 2005

San Francisco, CA—Project Inform announced today that Executive Director Ellen LaPointe will be leaving the organization on April I after four years of exemplary leadership and service.

"Ellen's outstanding direction and leadership have had a significant impact on Project Inform's ability to navigate the enormous challenges all of us engaged in AIDS work have faced in recent years," said Board President Stephen Suacci.  "As we commemorate 20 years of service to the community, Project Inform is on solid ground.  We thank Ellen for her years of dedication and commitment, and wish her all the best."

The Board of Directors has already initiated the search for an interim Executive Director and expects to have someone in place prior to LaPointe's departure. Following this, the Board will begin the process of planning the search for a permanent replacement.

"I have been honored and proud to be a part of Project Inform and its extraordinary work and accomplishments over the last four years," said LaPointe. "I have nothing but the highest regard and respect for the staff, our Board and our volunteers, all of whom have remained steadfast in their commitment to people with HIV disease through the incredible challenges we have faced together. I appreciate the strength of our relationships with the many community partners whose personal and professional efforts have significantly enhanced our efforts. And I thank our many supporters who have continued to stand with us during lean economic times. Working in this environment has truly been an inspiration and a privilege I will always be grateful to have had."

"Ellen has been a great partner for me personally in our work and an effective leader for Project Inform. We are all going to miss her," remarked Founding Director Martin Delaney. "Our strength and consistent vision have allowed us to be an important contributor in the fight against AIDS for the last 20 years and Project Inform remains strong and well equipped to face the challenges ahead. Our strength doesn't depend on any single individual, and we always wish people the best when they move on. I have no doubt that Ellen will continue to make great contributions in her future work."
