Project Inform to launch "Web of Hope"
online auction on World AIDS Day
November 12, 2004
San Francisco, CA—Project Inform will launch
its first-ever online fundraising auction, "Web of Hope," on December
1, World AIDS Day. The virtual event will also mark the start of
a year-long 20th anniversary campaign for the national AIDS treatment
information and advocacy organization.
For two decades, literally thousands of supporters throughout the
country have stood beside Project Inform in the fight against AIDS.
In recognition of this unwavering support, the organization intends
to expand its annual inspirational event, the San Francisco Evening
of Hope, to include house parties and other events throughout the
country during the coming year. The first of these is an interactive
affair called the "Web of Hope." Just in time for the holidays,
anyone can shop online and support Project Inform's work at the
same time. Items for auction will include:
- Wined and Dined - Dining experiences, gourmet food, wines, tastings
- All in the Family - Family activities, children's goods
- I Think I Can … - Lessons, Sports, Fitness
- Lights, Camera, Action - Theatre, Music, Movies
- Pampered and Indulged - Massage, Spas, Beauty, Home Services
- Planes, Trains and Automobiles - Local excursions, national
and international travel
- Shop ‘til You Drop - Art, Jewelry, Apparel, Goods and
Services
The "Web of Hope" also underscores Project Inform's vision for
the future: "If there was one lesson we learned in the first two
decades of our activism, it is that we get only what we demand and
fight for," says Martin Delaney, the organization's founding director.
"As the cry for a cure has become but a faint echo, so too does
the hope that one will be found. Project Inform will settle for
nothing less than a cure, along with whatever it takes to make that
cure available to every HIV infected person on the planet."
