Merryvale Vineyards & Project Inform
Launch Fund Drive to Fight AIDS
February 14, 2004
Northern California—Project Inform, the
nation's leading resource for information and advocacy on HIV and
AIDS-related treatment and care, announced today that Merryvale
Vineyards will donate $5.00 to Project Inform from the sale of every
bottle of 2000 Profile red blend and 2000 and 2001 Silhouette Chardonnay
sold in participating markets March 1 through June 30, 2004.
"We are thrilled about this partnership," says Project Inform Board
President Steve Lew. "Faced with ongoing economic uncertainty and
decreased funding, I raise a glass to Merryvale for supporting our
efforts to move AIDS research toward better treatments and, ultimately,
a cure." Executive Director Ellen LaPointe adds, "Finding innovative
ways to support vital services for people living with HIV and for
their loved ones is crucial. The opportunity to amplify our message
of hope is a welcome one."
A family-owned Napa Valley winery, Merryvale is conducting the
drive in over 20 key U.S. markets over the four month period. "Merryvale
has been blessed with wonderful support from the community over
the years," says President and Chief Executive Officer Peter K.
Huwiler. "It means a lot to all of us to give back with what we
hope will be a significant contribution to Project Inform. The generosity
of the Schlatter family, Merryvale proprietors makes it all possible."
The winery will make the $5.00 donation for every bottle of these
wines sold directly through the winery April 1 through May 31, 2004,
including those ordered via phone, e-mail and internet.
Profile, Merryvale's legendary red Bordeaux-varietal blend ($79.00
average retail), and Silhouette Chardonnay ($45.00) are at the pinnacle
of the winery's portfolio. Newly released 2000 Profile earned a
92 point rating from the highly regarded Connoisseurs' Guide to
California Wine, with 90 points awarded to 2000 Silhouette Chardonnay.
