I hope there will be
easier-to-use drugs that I can take.
This
statement makes complete sense. And, many people living with HIV
are faced with having to deal with taking drugs that sometimes interfere
with their lives.
For some, it's the number of pills that have to be taken, with
or without food. For others, it's dealing with the side effects.
Over its 21 years, Project Inform has fought for improvements in
anti-HIV therapy ... demanding regimens that have progressively
gotten easier to take and tolerate. 2004 saw the first time two
drugs were combined into one pill, and 2006 saw the combination
of entire three-drug regimens into a single pill ... given once
a day.
But we're not stopping there.
We continue to work with researchers, pharmaceutical companies
and other advocates to push for developing additional easier-to-use
pills and regimens. As well, we advocate for inclusive public policies
that ensure easier access to health care by those who need it. Ultimately,
we're working towards a cure.
