In the news ... 2009Project Inform announces the hiring of Matt Sharp as its new Director of Treatment & Prevention AdvocacyApril 21, 2009On April 6, 2009, Matt Sharp started work for Project Inform in a newly created position of Director of Treatment & Prevention Advocacy. Given the strength of his contributions to ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic over many years, the great reputation he enjoys among HIV advocates, and because he is a courageous survivor of HIV himself, Project Inform is thrilled and honored to have Matt join our staff. Matt comes to Project Inform most recently from the STOP AIDS Project in San Francisco where he managed prevention for positives programs. Prior to that, he has served as the Director of Education & Advocacy Treatment for the Test Positive Awareness Network in Chicago, Executive Director of the Healing Alternatives Foundation, as an HIV treatment education trainer and clinical trials outreach coordinator. Matt is an active and long-standing member of the Drug Development Committee of the AIDS Treatment Activist Coalition and is a member of many community advisory boards to pharmaceutical companies and government agencies working to address HIV/AIDS. Matt will perpetuate Project Inform’s great contribution to the work of assuring the voice of people with HIV in the continued development of safe and effective medications to treat HIV. He will lead our participation in advocacy to expand research to identify a cure for HIV infection. Reflecting Project Inform’s entry into work to address hepatitis C, Matt will be monitoring drug development in this area and helping to guide the development of Project Inform’s programs to educate both people with hepatitis C and people co-infected with HIV and hepatitis C about emerging treatment options. And to support our advocacy of biomedical approaches to HIV prevention, Matt will be monitoring research and helping to establish Project Inform’s positions on Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and HIV treatment as prevention. We know you will be reading a lot about Matt in upcoming issues of PIP eNews as he makes his substantial contributions to HIV research, treatment and prevention. Feel free to . |
