Peripheral neuropathyMarch 2008 View PDF En español Concerns for people over 50In the general public, peripheral neuropathy affects people over 55 at a higher rate than others. About 3–4% of older adults are affected by some form of it. As people living with HIV age, they are more likely to suffer PN due to the length of time they live with HIV, having multiple conditions, or using HIV or other drugs that cause it. Managing PN in people with HIV can be challenging, especially in later age and later stage disease. However, with persistence, it’s possible to control PN with the various medicines available today along with current studies showing hopeful results. |
