Drug interactions

January 2007     En español

At least three internet sources can help you to check your medication interactions. To prepare yourself, either write down your information before you access any of these links or sit down at the computer with all the prescription medications that you currently take and the names of those you may consider taking in the future. Some of these sources also allow you to enter non-prescription drugs, herbal supplements, food or alcohol.

Project Inform's Hotline operators are here to answer questions about your medication concerns. We have access to published materials on drug interactions. You may ask your question by calling us toll-free at 1-800-822-7422 or filling out our hotline question form. A pharmacist who you trust is also an excellent resource for finding out about drug interactions.

Check My Meds
www.aidsmeds.com
This site is the most patient-user friendly. Visitors can construct and save a personalized list of medicines.

HIVinsite
hivinsite.org
This site provides extensive information on drug interactions from different medical categories.

University of Liverpool (UK)
www.hiv-druginteractions.org
Although this site targets healthcare professionals, scientific researchers or those interested in HIV therapy, it is also patient-user friendly in constructing charts.

Toronto General Hospital
www.tthhivclinic.com/interact_tables.html
This site has information intended for use by experienced physicians and pharmacists with preset charts.

Due to the rapidly changing nature of information about HIV therapy, it's not only useful but important to recheck the information routinely. Project Inform provides information from other sources but does not necessarily endorse or support the information contained in these resources nor confirm that every fact is accurate. The information offered at these sites is not intended to replace the informed advice of a medical professional. Making decisions about medical treatments should always be made by talking with a qualified healthcare professional who is experienced in treating HIV disease.
