California continues to move forward toward health care reform at a faster pace than many other states in the country. The state’s 1115 waiver, approved in late 2010, expands Medicaid and Medi-Cal managed care to half a million of California’s low-income residents, including those who are seniors and those with HIV.
Anne Donnelly of Project Inform and Courtney Mulhern-Pearson of San Francisco AIDS Foundation have created a comprehensive resource entitled, Health Care Reform: California Lessons Learned. Throughout the document, Anne and Courtney analyze CA’s Low Income Health Program and the movement of seniors and people with disabilities (including HIV) into managed care before moving on to lessons learned and future recommendations.
