Medicare and Part D

New Continuous SEP for All LIS Beneficiaries

July 9, 2007

CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) announced July 5, 2007 that, effectively immediately, the agency has instituted a continuous Special Enrollment Period (SEP) to all Part D eligible beneficiaries eligible for the Low Income Subsidy. This means all LIS eligibles, not just duals, can change plans at any time with an effective date of the first of the next month.

The change is part of a broader revision to the Enrollment and Eligibility Guidance for PDPs and MA-PDs. The new guidance is found at www.cms.hhs.gov (for MA-PDs) and www.cms.hhs.gov (for PDPs).
