PI ACTION ALERT:
Urge Your Senators to Sign ADAP Letter!
April 23, 2007
Your U.S. Senators can take action this week to make sure people
with HIV can access the treatment they need.
Senators Gordon Smith (R-OR) and Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) have authored
a "Dear Colleague" letter supporting a $232.9 million
increase for the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP). This is the
amount identified by treatment experts as needed to allow all state
ADAPs to provide adequate services to those in need. This letter
will be sent to the Chair and Ranking Member of the Senate Labor-HHS
Appropriations Subcommittee. The more Senators that sign this letter,
the better chance we have of getting this badly needed increase.
You can make a difference by asking your two U.S. Senators to sign
this important letter!
How you can help:
The deadline for signing this letter is Wednesday, April 25th. Please
call your two U.S. Senators today in their Washington, DC office
and tell whoever answers the phone:
"My name is _____________ and I live in (your
state). I urge Senator _______________ to sign the "Dear Colleague"
letter from Senators Smith and Bingaman urging a $232.9 million
increase for the AIDS Drug Assistance Program. This program provides
lifesaving treatment to people with HIV and has been underfunded
for years. This increase will allow all state ADAPs to serve those
in need."
You can call your Senators toll-free at 1-800-614-2803. Ask to
be connected to your Senator's office. Thank you for taking the
time to make a difference.
