Urge Your Republican Member of Congress to Sign Letter Opposing
Medicaid Cuts
Dear TAN Members,
Thanks to your efforts, three weeks ago we had a major victory
when the United States Senate voted to strike Medicaid cuts from
the Senate version of the budget resolution.
A final budget resolution is now being negotiated by a joint House/Senate
conference committee. Since the House of Representatives’
version of the resolution contains Medicaid cuts, the fight to protect
Medicaid isn’t over.
Representative Heather Wilson (R-NM) is circulating a letter to
her Republican colleagues that urges leadership in the House to
follow the Senate’s lead and take out all Medicaid cuts from
the budget. You can read this letter at www.familiesusa.org.
The letter is for Republican House members only. We need as many
signatories as possible to this letter. The more than sign, the
better the chance of protecting Medicaid in the final resolution.
Please take a few minutes to call your Republican House Representative
right now!
How you can help:
The sign-on letter is only for Republicans in the House of Representatives.
If your Representative is a Republican, please call his/her office
in Washington, DC as soon as possible. The deadline for signing
the letter is April 13.
You can use a toll-free number set up by Families USA, 1-800-828-0498.
You’ll reach the Congressional Switchboard. Ask to be connected
to your Representative’s office.
Tell whoever answers the phone:
“I am a constituent of Representative ________________.
I urge him/her to sign Representative Wilson’s letter that
requests leadership to strike all Medicaid cuts from the final budget
resolution. The budget should not be balanced on the backs of our
most vulnerable people”.
If you don’t know who your Representative is, go to www.vote-smart.org.
**Note: if your Representative is a Democrat, do not respond to
this Alert. The letter is for Republicans only. Please instead forward
this Alert to someone you know who is represented by a Republican
and ask them to take action!
Thank you for your quick response to this Alert!
Thank you to Families USA, www.familiesusa.org, for the information
in this Alert.
