What is PI Action?
PI Action is a national grassroots network of individuals—organized
by Project Inform—that advocates on HIV/AIDS treatment and
health care. Members email and call their Members of Congress, the
President, and other federal officials about HIV/AIDS legislation
and funding issues.
Grassroots advocacy has been at the heart of many political victories.
People most impacted by HIV/AIDS have called, written, emailed and
met with their elected officials to demand an adequate response
from government ... powerfully influencing those we elect to represent
us.
In recent years, PI Action members have advocated for:
• increased funding for ADAP, the Ryan White CARE
Act, and other vital programs
• passage of the Early Treatment for HIV Act
• protection of the entitlement status in Medicaid
• a meaningful Medicare prescription drug benefit
for people with AIDS who depend on the program
What do PI Action members receive?
Members receive email PI Action Alerts on timely issues that need
your attention. These alerts provide substantial background information
on the issue and sample letters to help you craft your message to
your elected officials.
PI Action members also receive our regular PI Action Update, an
electronic newsletter that provides information about key public
policy and treatment advocacy issues with links to documents and
websites that provide more detail. It also includes updates on what
Project Inform staff is doing to make a difference on these issues.
