Volunteers at Project Inform

Volunteer form  |  Honoring our volunteers

Volunteers are at the heart of Project Inform … supporting projects and programs that serve people living with HIV in the San Francisco Bay Area, throughout the country and around the world. Throughout the year, over 100 volunteers help Project Inform fight against HIV/AIDS … that’s nearly 10 times the number of staff! You, too, can make a difference by volunteering your time, knowledge and skills.

Getting yourself or your friends involved is easy. Check out the available volunteer opportunities described below; fill out the online volunteer form; and discuss your wishes with a staff member. Then start volunteering!

National HIV/AIDS Treatment Hotline
Project Inform’s toll-free hotline answers care, treatment and access questions from thousands of callers every year. Volunteer operators respond to a diverse group of callers with various needs and stay informed with the latest HIV treatment information. You can also read more information about the hotline.

PI Action
PI Action is a national grassroots network of over 2,000 individuals—organized by Project Inform—that advocates on HIV/AIDS treatment and health care. Members email and call their Members of Congress, the President and other federal officials about HIV/AIDS legislation and funding issues. Read more about PI Action.

Board of Directors
Project Inform is governed by an all-volunteer board of directors who give generously of their time, talents and resources. Candidates with skills and experience in fund development, program management, marketing and communications, and community organizing are encouraged to apply. To receive an introductory packet of information and instructions on how to become a possible candidate, contact the .

Fundraising and special events
Project Inform schedules several special events throughout the year, and volunteers help us with both the preparation for and on-site management of the events. As well, Project Inform participates in other community events where individuals as well as volunteer teams can help, such as Academy of Friends’ Academy Awards Gala and Macy’s Passport. We’ll help you find a volunteer fit that best matches your interests. For more information, contact the .

General office support
Project Inform’s daily activities are supported by volunteers providing general administrative support, including answering phones, helping with special projects, reception, data entry, mailing projects, filing and errands. Some positions need strong database, typing and computer skills (particularly Raiser's Edge). For more information, contact the .
